Grad 2016!

December 10, 2016

On November 13th, 2016 the Chapter gathered at the Dalnavert Museum to celebrate our 2016 grad and our student success. It was a great evening and is the centre of our Chapter year – it is what we are about!

We are of course proud of our 2016 grad, Evelyne Simard. After such a long road you finally made it! We were particularly happy to award Terry Maxwell and Ray Dueck with their honourary life memberships. Thank you for your service to our chapter and your lifetime of dedicated service as credit professionals!

It was a wonderful celebration!

Membership Report, September 2015

October 17, 2015
The report for the period ended September 2015 is attached. Overall the Manitoba Chapter has 91 members at the end of September (compared to 99 last year).
The change is really a reduction of students. National has reviewed the database and removed students who were not active. Overall we are up 7 paying members and down 14 unpaid members (13 students and 1 honourary member). Through the summer we contacted all unpaid members and associates to remind them to pay their dues.

Membership Report, May 31, 2015

June 7, 2015

Below find our membership report for the period ended May 31, 2015. The report has been split up into two…separating paid & unpaid members. We can see that we are up 10 paid members compared to last year this time. Note that this report is based on members who have paid their dues to the date of the report. In 2014 the notice for dues were sent out late, so we will see the 10-member difference shrink over the next few months.

In total our membership is 97 members – very consistent with prior years.

April 10, 2015

2015 ended well in terms of our membership: we maintained our membership in CCPs and students, losing a net of four affiliate members. We have started a project to win those members back and hope to be back up to 108 members for FY 2015-16.

Fire, and Coping with Rapid Change!

December 5, 2014

by Debbie Baines, CCP

On Saturday, Sept 20, a fire broke out in one of Standard Aero’s facilities located on Sargent Avenue.  Thankfully, no one was injured and the group of employees working in the plant at the time responded according and evacuated the building.  It only took 4 minutes for the local fire department to arrive on the site.   In addition, Standard Aero’s fire suppression system in the facility worked as intended and the ceiling fire sprinklers detected the fire and aided in extinguishing the fire.

Unfortunately, with this type of emergency response, there was a significant amount of water and smoke damage which requires the appropriate clean-up efforts including inspections and approvals prior to restoring our systems and building access.

The incident also had a broader impact to the organization due to the computer systems that were affected by both the shutdown of our electrical power sources and after affects in adjacent facilities.  The majority of our facilities around the world were restored with operating systems within 24 hours.

As of today, many of us have been relocated to other Standard Aero Winnipeg facilities to work.  Make shift work stations have been set up in meeting/ training rooms, lunch rooms, etc.  We are adapting to these changes and doing what they can to minimize the impacts to our customers.

I am impressed with people’s ability to cope with sudden change. We came together as a team and worked together to make the best of the situation. All that being said, I don’t wish on this anyone!

Membership Report November 2014

December 5, 2014

The Manitoba Chapter has faired well this year, holding CCP membership steady, and growing our student numbers. Overall we are down by three, though that is because the number of affiliates has gone down by three. We are most pleased!
